Reporters Without Borders

Foreign journalists briefly arrested

Several foreign journalists were briefly arrested while trying to reach Zawiya, west of the capital, where pro-Gaddafi troops had launched a major counter-offensive. A reporter from The Guardian was held for three hours at a checkpoint. The only footage he was able to obtain was of groups of pro-Gaddafi supporters.
