Delphine Halgand, US Director

Delphine has been working as the Director of the Washington DC office for Reporters Without Borders since December 2011. She runs the US activities for the organization and advocates for journalists, bloggers and media rights worldwide. Acting as RSF’s spokesperson in the US, Delphine regularly appears on American (PBS, Democracy Now, Wall Street Journal,…), foreign media (BBC, Al Jazeera, NTN24,…) and lectures at conferences in US universities (Harvard University, UCLA, Yale…) on press freedom violation issues. Previously, she served as Press attaché in charge of outreach at the French Embassy to the US. Since graduating from Sciences Po Paris with an M.A. in Journalism, Delphine has worked as an economics corespondent for various French media (Le Monde, Les Echos, L’Express,...), focusing mainly on international politics and macroeconomic issues.

Leigh Coventry Burke, US Development Manager

Leigh joined RSF in September 2013 with a long career in fundraising, most recently for the Arthur F. Burns Fellowship, a German-American journalism exchange program. She has worked for large and small organizations including George Washington University, Inova Health System and The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars. Most of Leigh’s work has been in corporate, foundation and board relations where she enjoys the challenge of partnering with new funders and working with board members. Leigh studied French and Government at Franklin & Marshall College and received her M.P.A. from George Washington University.

Margaux Ewen, Advocacy and Communications Officer

Margaux joined RSF’s US office in July 2015 with a background in International Law. She has degrees from the Sorbonne in France and the George Washington University Law School in the US and speaks fluent French. She most recently worked with the American Bar Association’s Rule of Law Initiative to help develop a training manual on mining and human rights for civil society in Guinea. At RSF Margaux covers press freedom violations in the US and Canada, coordinates and develops advocacy and media outreach strategies, and answers media inquiries.
