Reporters Without Borders has an arrangement with the French Red Cross to provide training for journalists going on dangerous assignments.
The courses, run jointly with the French-speaking section of the Belgian Red Cross, are held at the Albaron training centre in Modane (French Alps) and focus on safety and stress management (with practical exercises) and on respect for international humanitarian law (IHL).
Among those giving the courses are IHL experts, doctors of tropical medicine, French mine clearance experts, Red Cross officials and members of Reporters Without Borders.
